During my stay in NZ, I've never heard a Kiwi raise his/her voice or shout across the room. Many a times, a Kiwi salesperson who is clueless to my queries, will walk across the hall to ask the nearest salesperson in sight even though it's convenient to just shout across.
Since my return, think I've not raised my voice or shout as much as before..... heh....
